Peel and Stick versus traditional wallpaper

Everyone asks us about peel and stick- do we carry it? Do we like? Have we used it ourselves? The answer is YES.

Peel and stick is a very popular wallpaper option currently. And for good reason- it’s reenter friendly, it’s removable, it’s often more affordable. There are plenty of reasons to LOVE peel and stick. And sometimes you can only find your favorite pattern in peel and stick- whatever the reason we love encouraging peel and stick projects!!

But everyone’s biggest question is- if you have a choice which do you recommend? And our possibly unpopular opinion is traditional ALWAYS!! There are so many reasons and examples but let’s go through a few.

• Application. We think of peel and stick as similar to contact paper. You only have one shot, maybe two to get it perfect. With traditional paste the wall or paste the paper, it is almost more like working with paper maché. You are able to move, wiggle and realign to create perfection.

• Wall texture. Maybe this is our personal trigger, but we live in vintage plaster homes. Our walls are just not perfect. Smoothing and prepping the wall aside, peel and stick and reveal imperfections more.

• Texture and dimension in the product! We just love traditional, non-digitally printed wallpaper. Grasscloths, glass beading, surface printing and multi colored screen printing all provide texture and dimension in a way that isn’t reproduced easily.
